Tech score is a numeric value used to signify the number of technologies an empire has learned. A higher score generally means an empire has more technological knowledge than an empire with a lower tech score.

The tech score value is simply the total number of levels of technology an empire has learned.

For example, if an empire learns a level one technology, their tech score will go up by 1. If the same empire learns the level 2 version of the same technology, then their tech score will increase by +2 resulting in a total tech score of 3.

Tech score is one of the variables used in calculating an empire's total empire score.
